Interventional radiologists use technology to diagnose and treat many diseases at Montage Health. Procedures use imaging guidance and usually require only sedation, not general anesthesia. (That means you stay awake and go home sooner.) Instead of performing surgery, interventional radiologists treat conditions through small incisions. You have a lower risk of side effects, less pain, and faster recovery.

Chemoembolization Chemoembolization
Chemoembolization injects chemotherapy drugs into blood vessels that feed a liver tumor. The tumor then shrinks or dies. You have fewer side effects than you would after typical chemotherapy.
Deep vein thrombosis treatment Deep vein thrombosis treatment
Deep venous thrombosis (DVT) refers to blood clots in veins that cause pain and swelling. If the clots travel to your lungs, they can be life-threatening. Your interventional radiologist may break up or remove the clot to restore blood flow and reduce your symptoms.
Hemodialysis access care Hemodialysis access care
Hemodialysis access is the spot in your blood vessels that connects to a blood-washing machine. If the access point narrows or develops a blood clot, an interventional radiologist will restore the blood flow. That means you can keep receiving dialysis.
Kyphoplasty Kyphoplasty
The kyphoplasty procedure injects a small amount of bone cement into your spine to stabilize a vertebral compression fracture (broken back bone). This treatment relieves back pain.
IVC filter removal IVC filter removal
Inferior vena cava (IVC) filters trap blood clots in your legs before they reach the lungs. Your interventional radiologist will remove the filter when you no longer need it.
Prostate artery embolization (PAE) Prostate artery embolization (PAE)
The PAE procedure blocks the blood supply to an enlarged prostate gland. When the gland shrinks, you can urinate normally again.
Radioembolization Radioembolization
Radioembolization (y90 treatment) injects tiny radioactive beads into blood vessels that feed a liver tumor, so it shrinks or dies. You receive effective treatment with fewer side effects and less impact on nearby healthy tissue.
Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunts (TIPS) Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunts (TIPS)
The TIPS procedure creates a bypass in the liver to redirect blood flow and reduce pressure in the portal vein. This relieves symptoms of portal hypertension, such as fluid buildup or bleeding in your digestive tract.
